About Us

History

Dale Henley established his law practice in Sidney, BC in 1976 and was joined by Mike Walden in 1980. Their success depended on relationships built on trust, confidence and good communication. That same philosophy continues at Henley & Straub LLP to this day.  When clients approach us with a legal matter, we begin by understanding their needs and objectives and then focus on creating solutions, ultimately finding the best way forward. We always encourage frank discussion of questions and concerns, ideas and alternatives.  Openness, availability and commitment to your best interests are the touchstones of our practice.

Philosophy

At Henley & Straub, our success depends on relationships built on trust, confidence and good communication. We begin by understanding your needs and objectives and then focus on creating solutions, ultimately finding the best way forward.

We always encourage frank discussion of questions and concerns, ideas and alternatives. Our philosophy of openness, availability and commitment to your best interests is our touchstone of practice.

In our view, it’s not just a matter of responding to crises and slicing through legal tangles, but also of skillfully anticipating your legal needs so that your affairs flow smoothly and efficiently.

Both your legal matters and your peace of mind are well cared for at Henley & Straub LLP.

Process

In keeping with our philosophy of open communication, we believe in being upfront about the manner in which we deliver our services as well as our billing methods.

In our first meeting with you, our primary role is to listen and learn. We are eager to discover all we can about your situation, objectives and needs. Our next step is to provide you with the information you need to feel confident about engaging Henley & Straub LLP. For example, we will suggest an initial plan for proceeding to resolution of your legal matter. Further, we pledge to keep you fully informed of all developments that stand to affect your interest, and will never proceed without your consent.

Fees

In our initial meeting, we will also discuss our fees and any disbursements (hard costs, such as registry filing fees) that may be required. Many legal matters are unpredictable by nature.  In these cases, it is nearly impossible to give an accurate estimate of what a resolution might cost. However, as matters proceed, we will always keep you advised of costs related to your case and ensure that they are in accordance with your needs and understanding. Different arrangements for payment are available. Depending on the work, a retainer, monthly billing, or billing upon completion of the work might be appropriate.
